More Snow

I don't know which to believe. One day the weatherman says we are going to get freezing rain but we were above freezing so it was just rain. That was good because some of the snow disappeared but there is plenty left. Then it created a great deal of fog and makes driving very difficult especially at night. Now he is saying we will get freezing rain tomorrow which is worse because it often clings to the highlines and knocks down wires and cuts off electricity. That is especially bad in winter to not have heat.

Weather Report

The weather report certainly has not been good. They have been saying that our thick fog was going to get worse all day and it did. Then we had some rain overnight that took down some of the huge snowbanks but it causes more fog. Now they say we could have freezing rain tomorrow which will make everything very slippery and not good for those going out on New Years Eve.

Freezing Rain

We have had one hard winter so far. There has been an unusual amount of snow and I heard on the television yesterday that if we have more snow before Jan. 1 that it will break all records. I believe we have had 27.5 inches already just in December. The people moving snow just don't know where to put it anymore. We are supposed to get freezing rain tomorrow and that is bad because often the lines go down and the lights go out leaving you without heat. I hope that doesn't happen.

SNOW SNOW SNOW

You can't get much whiter then it looks outside now! We have trouble seeing our dog Zoe out there. She's not to sure about all of this. She's still good to ask to go out when she needs too though. :)

Warmth

Even though it is cold outside we have warmth in the house. I don't care for the cold and wouldn't want to be outside for very long. Back when I was young I didn't mind it so much. I think that is pretty common. The older we get the more we enjoy warm weather instead of the cold.

Ham Dinner

Too Much Snow

I am not a big winter fan and personally think that we have too much snow already. I know that we have a few months before spring but I am ready for it. I love all seasons except winter. Skinny Dog

Career Polictians

I, for one, am not in favor of people who are career politicians. I think there should be term limits in all areas of government. It seems that only the very wealthy are able to hold some higher positions in politics. I don't believe that was the intent of those who started the whole system.

A few years ago my oldest children surprised us by telling us they were both expecting babies just days apart. It has been so much fun having grandchildren growing up together. Here Comes The Wind

My oldest son and his family recently purchase an acreage. They are busy remodeling and replacing some things. I am loving the choices they have made for their hardware and kitchen faucet. Fall

Raking Leaves is a Great Family Activity

Fall is here again, and it's time to get the yard ready for the season. As much as my family loves to look at all the leaves outside on the ground, it's not a good idea to leave them there for too long. If you do, you risk them staying adhered to the ground until the springtime, because the snow will come and freeze, covering them up and making them impossible to rake.

So last Saturday, the kids and I set out to tackle the yard. We took some trash bags outside, set the home security alarm from www.ALLHOMESECURITY.com, and spent the entire day outside raking and making big piles of colorful, crunchy leaves. Of course, they had to jump in the first few piles, and I even joined them in a jump when we had made a particularly large pile. So after we had raked the leaves again, we then bagged them up and set them out for the next day's trash pickup.

When we were all done outside, we went back in and made a round of steaming hot chocolate. The kids had a great time, even adding in a few marshmallows each. We sat around and laughed about our day together, and planned out how we will carve our pumpkin this year. Raking leaves will definitely always be one of my favorite fall activities.

Popcorn

John Deere Mower

Fall Colors

Late Meal

It was sort of a late supper for us last night. We decided on just ordering from the local Chinese restaurant instead of making a meal. It tasted good and we have left overs. Strong Men!

While out working on my son's farm last weekend the guys decided they would move a smaller building from it's foundation. It was much heavier then it appeared. Three of them worked to carry it to a new location. My grandson watched with amazement. They did a great job!!

A scare at the state fair

I've always been a little obsessed with horror movies and TV shows that are in the horror genre like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it's another thing when I see that stuff in person. Like I can't stand haunted houses or scary rides, which really surprised my kids last year at the state fair.

I should have known that taking my kids to the state fair one year would make them think that they had to go back to it every year after that, because my kids think they have to go again this year. Dream Car

If I had a choice of dream car it would probably be an older Chevrolet Chevelle. I think a 1969 would be to one I would want. The new Camaros are very nice too but they might be a second choice. Bill's brother had one many years ago. It was a very nice car. It was quite the car back then as I remember. There are many nice cars but the Chevelle would be the one for me.

Night Light

A neighbor of ours has a motion type night light on the front of their house. I think that is a great idea. We do have a light out front that can be turned on by a switch but to have it come on automatically would be great. I think I will have Bill check in to getting one installed.

Big Mower

Our son and daughter-in-law recently bought a house. With the house came tons of storage and a John Deere mower. It is what our grandson calls his tractor. It is a big one too. The other day Bill took our grandson for a ride around the yard and I don't know who enjoyed it more. They both had fun.

I was complaining about the irritation of going to the movie place, dealing with the teenage staff, and wading through the junk to get a movie. To top it off they keep raising the price. It is darn close to the price of a theater movie ticket just to rent a movie now days. My friend told me about the magic of on demand movies. I had never heard of it. To rent a movie without the hassle and irritation and time spent, it costs the same as a rental. It was too good to be true. But, I checked it out myself and found that watching movies on demand on satellite television from this site is a must. Everyone should try this out. It is the equivalent of not using cell phones or microwaves when the technology is there. Small Injury

Over a week ago Bill was working in the garage. He was using a utility blade to cut a plastic light cover for the basement when apparently the blade attacked him. At least that is what it looked like. He came in the house bleeding profusely. Well anyway, he didn't go have it stitched and now it is still an open wound. He has super glued it shut several times and bandaged it but with the bandage over the cut, it has stayed too soft to heal. I told him right after it happened that he needed stitches but did he listen? You know the answer to that.

Apple Orchard

We had so much fun on Saturday going with our grandchildren to an Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Patch. They had so much for kids to do! There were inflatable bubbles, a huge slide, story time, petting zoo, train rides, pony rides, puppies, mazes, pumpkin patch, food and more. It was a great time!

This year my husband offered to let his sister throw their parents' anniversary party at our house and I am already regretting it.

Our kitchen was kind of a mess for a while. We started renovations on it and had to stop for a while when money was tight. My husband didn't think about that when he agreed to have the party at our house so I knew that I would have to deal with it more. I visited Www.Homeproimprovement.Com and got some people to pick up the project where the others left off.

Once I got a quote on it I also had them put in an island. It ended up coming together beautifully and we're hosting the party next week.

I'm just hoping it will all go smoothly and no one messes up my nice new kitchen. The last time that we hosted a party, some of the kids ended up dropping some of my casserole dishes and they went everywhere all over the kitchen.

Emry

The kids were home a couple of weeks ago and Grampa decided to take Emry to the park for a while. He loves the swings! They had a lot of fun! :)

Cigar Auctions

Growing up my dad enjoyed smoking. He had a machine that he could roll his own cigarettes. There was always a fancy looking ashtray that set on a pedestal. He also enjoyed cigars. I actually didn't mind the smell of those. I wonder if he ever purchased cigars from the cigar auctions. I guess there are a variety of types and smells.

Cameras

With time technology continues to advance. I remember one of our first cameras. The kind that still took film. We would waste so many pictures. Now with the digital cameras we are able to pick and choose. Delete the pictures we don't want to keep without wasting expensive film. We have also purchased numerous camera bags, lenses and even a printer. Recently we had a huge family celebration. We found that a tripod sure came in handy.

Polaris ATV

As our grand children get older there may be bigger and better toys for them to play with. My oldest son now has an acreage and there would be plenty of room for a Polaris ATV. I'm sure we would have to monitor the use of such a machine, but I know that the kids would love it! I guess we'll have to see what time brings. There are so many choices available. Which one to pick??? Hummmmm....

Injured

Well, as my husband was trying to complete another project, he sustained an injury. The project was replacing the light covers in the basement. The pieces were too big so they had to be cut down a bit. In this process Bill sliced the side of his pointing finger with a utility knife. The knife won for sure. He came in the house with blood dripping from his finger. I suggested that he go to the doctor but he decided to dress it at home. I have been helping with the bandaging since then. Today he put some super glue over the area to help hold it together. I am sure it will be fine although it did look bad.

Robot Halloween costume

One of my son's favorite things to do during play time is act and talk like a robot. It can get a little annoying after a while when I ask him some questions and he answers them all in his little robot voice, but I let him do it anyway. So he of course wants to dress up as a robot for Halloween this year.

But I think that this is actually going to be a pretty easy costume to make. I've been looking up tips for making a robot costume with direct tv internet bundle and have found some really great ones. Also, I don't think that I'm even going to have to go to the store to buy anything because we already have the stuff laying around the house and in the garage.

I'm going to take a cardboard box and cut arms for his head and arms to stick out of it. Then i'm going to spray paint it silver of course and use some buttons and other little things to make robot knobs on it.

60th!

We recently held a 60th celebration for my parents! It was such a wonderful time! Almost all the family was present. Some who were there had to leave early so they didn't make it for the group picture... It's very difficult to get family all together and I was so happy for the turnout!

Leaves

The leaves are changing color already. I don't want fall weather yet. I like summer and would like to see more of it. Big Storm

Last night we were in a theater when the power went out. It was only for a short time but the movie went black. While we sat in silence we could hear the thunder outside. The storm was over by the time we got out of the show. There were water puddles all over outside. It must have rained very hard.

New Grill

Recently the kids bought Bill a new gas grill. It is wonderful! This one is much bigger than our old one and looks so much better. I am sure we could put at least 40-50 burgers on it. We have already used it a lot. The stainless exterior is much nicer and easy to clean up. We love it.

iPod Touch

I am sure you know what an iPod Touch is. We bought one a few months ago and now there is a newer model on the market. The new one has a camera on each side so you can video conference with others. Brotherly bonding at the movies

My brother and I are two very different people. We don't have a lot in common, so it's tough for us to spend a lot of quality time together. Pretty much the only thing we both like doing is going to the movies. We try to be sure to catch a movie together once or twice a month. It's a great way for us to keep in touch.

He usually comes to pick me up. He's always early, and I'm always running late: one of the many ways we are the opposite. He's pretty patient though, and once I find my keys and set my boston Adt security systems, we head down to our local cinema. It's just down the street from my apartment, so that's convenient.

Considering how different we are in so many ways, it's pretty amazing that we have such similar tastes in movies. We tend to like the big, epic kind of movies that are best seen in theatres with a big screen and a great sound system. We saw all of the "Lord of the Rings" films several times together.

Afterwards, we like to go grab some dinner together, and the movie we just saw always gives us plenty to talk about. It's also a good time to catch up on our personal lives. The movies have really brought us together.

Let The Games Begin

It is that time of year. Baseball is nearly over and football has begun. Our household isn't a wild place during sports seasons for the most part. My husband will watch some games but if he misses some, that is ok with him. He does enjoy golfing and for some reason he loves to watch golf on television too. New Job!

Our oldest son recently got a new position at the University he is employed by. He was so excited to begin this new adventure. On Monday he began his new job and is loving it! He and his family feel very blessed to have received this opportunity.

Falling Leaves

It is hard to believe that leaves are falling already. Bill has cleaned out the gutters and downspouts often this past summer. We have some large trees that drop leaves and small seeds. They can make for extra work much of the year. They are nice for shade in our back yard though. I guess a little extra work isn't so bad.

Zoe

Whenever we're away, our daughter and her husband are kind enough to watch our dog Zoe. They have grown to love her like we do and enjoy having her around for their kids to play with. We don't go away often, but when we do, it's nice to know that she is with people who are taking care of her and loving her. They often call her their 'adopted' dog. They have no desire to get a dog of their own...just too hard with the busyness of life...but love the chance to have Zoe around some. I think it's great!

Beautiful Weather

The weather has sure been more pleasant lately. The temps are cooler, especially in the morning, and the bugs are not nearly as bad. I do not like mosquitoes during the hot months of summer...they practically ruin anytime spent outside. We are now able to leave our windows open and enjoy some fresh air and a nice cool breeze. I love this time of year. I almost wish it was like this all year long. I have to admit though, I'm not looking forward to the winter weather which will soon be here. That is probably my least favorite season of them all.

Anytime I've ever seen gold coins, I am amazed with their beauty. They are not only fun to look at, but also very valuable. Halloween Costumes

Our daughter has already started thinking about Halloween. She decided it would be fun to have her daughter be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and her son be the lion. I think it sounds very cute and can't wait to see pics of them together! She was trying her Kaden's lion costume on the other day and sent us a pic....is this not the cutest little lion you've ever seen?! I figured he may not like that big outfit on, but she said he really did not mind at all. Little cutie pie!

Fox News Is My Favorite News Program

Fox News on directtv is always the channel that I depend on when looking for current events and political commentary. I feel that they report on all the news in regards to politics and not just what they feel would be important and relevant to one political view. I feel that are what their motto says, fair and balanced.

My favorite anchor on the Fox News Channel is Bill O'Reiley. He is an individual that gives the basics straight and while he interjects his own opinion, he also lets you form your own. He speaks as a well educated individual that possesses great knowledge of current events and has a variety of guests on his show to debate topics. Most of these individuals have a conflict of interest so that the debate they have is always lively and informative. His political topics do not lean towards one political party and I like him for that reason.

The Fox News Channel and Bill O'Reilly provide a great informative show that provides spectacular current day event and political information.

A Drive

Took a drive across some country side that we had not been through, today. It was beautiful. Hills and valleys, trees and rivers. We so enjoyed ourselves. You could see for miles. Went through some little unique towns with some vintage type buildings. We really should have stopped and taken some photos.

Big Change

Wow, what a change in the weather. It had been so hot and humid the past few weeks and now it has turned quite cool. I am sure it will warm up again in the days to come but the cooler temps are a welcome change. Many of our neighbors have been opening their windows, especially at night. Grocery Shopping Horror Turned Ecstasy

Grocery shopping is my least favorite chore to do as a stay at home mom. Really, I'd rather scrub a portable bathroom sparkling clean than to take two kids to the grocery store, shop, and use coupons to save money. I think I'm starting to feel an anxiety attack coming on just thinking about it!

After the girls and my husband are asleep I spend an hour shopping for my family at the 24 hour Giant around the corner. I quietly put the kitchen dimmer light on low and set my adt safewatch home security alarm before heading out to my own personal heaven.

I always use coupons, though I'm not a coupon queen that does multiple transactions to get the best deal. If something is on sale and if I need the item, I will used the coupon. Before heading to the grocery store I make a list of what is on sale, check my coupons, and build a weekly meal plan so that I buy only what is needed.

On the rare occasion that I run out of something that I absolutely need in the house, I will run both girls to the Super Fresh a little further away because it is less busy. No coupons, no sales, just pick up what I need. No two year old or mommy breakdowns.

Moving Day

Well, we did it again! We got another child all moved out of another place. I think most parents go through this phase of life. We are very excited for our son and his family. He got a new position at the University and they are buying their first home! For now we just needed to move them out of their present apartment. In a month and a half or so, we will move them again onto their acreage. They are soooo excited!

It used to be that only the 'geeks' played it. In the early days of fantasy football, people who played were known to have no lives and too much time on their hands. Enciladas!

Growing up my mom often made an old time family recipe for enchiladas. They are so good! I have never fed them to anyone that didn't like them. It does take a little bit of time to make, but always well worth it. Last night Bill and I both felt like having them, so that's what we did. Yum Yum!! Well, worth the time spent. :)

Modern and traditional anniversary gifts!

This past June my husband and I celebrated our thirty first anniversary. Wow, the time sure does fly by. Two of our children also celebrated their fifth anniversaries. Can hardly believe that they have been married that long already. It's fun and challenging at times to find those modern and traditional anniversary gifts for the occasion. I like to pick out things that suit the couple. And yet I love to stay traditional also. It's always fun to see new ideas.

Kaden

It's hard to believe that our youngest grandsons are already almost nine months old. Kaden is busy pulling himself up to everything. He wants to step out and begin walking. I won't be surprised if he does it very soon. Israel is rocking on all fours and looking ahead to the next place he can go also. I think that the time has gone even faster with these second babies.

My Soccer Saturday

Watching your kids participate in fall sports is so much fun! Today Jen has a soccer game at 10 a.m. on a nearby field while Pete is playing down in San Jose at 2p.m. Early this morning I packed the cooler with sodas, waters, sandwiches, carrot sticks, red grapes and yummy peanut butter cookies. Hubby already loaded it into the back of the van along with the folding chairs, shade umbrella and blankets. Once the kids are dressed in their uniforms I will set our ADT alarm in Tulsa and off we go for a fun day of soccer. It gives me such joy to watch Jen play stopper and charge those soccer balls. She has a powerful foot and somehow manages to strip that ball away from the opposing forward and pass it way up the field. Jen's footwork, control and handling of the ball has really improved since last season. Recently, her soccer coach Ron commented about what a great team player she is. Twins

Me and my twin sister love to hang out together. We don't get the opportunity a lot, but when we do we talk non-stop. Once a year we make sure that we get together for a long weekend. We go shopping a day and visit the whole time. It's so much fun! Here we had gotten together for our mom's birthday.

New Carpet

Recently we had new carpet installed in the upstairs bedrooms and hallway. I love it! We needed to replace the carpet in a couple rooms since it was about 25 years old. It wore very well but it was time for it to go. The new carpet is a type of shorter shag with a mix of colors. Everyone that has seen it so far has liked it very much. Why didn't we replace it sooner? Hummm

Vacation

I love to get away on a vacation. I enjoy the planning and the actual trip. It can stress me some until we are actually on our way but I still love it. Bill, on the other hand, isn't a real fan of the planning stages. He is very satisfied to let me plan most everything and then just enjoy the vacation. I am training him to like vacations more and more. That is a good thing for me.

Early Retirement

Many people talk about early retirement. There have been some incentives for state employees to leave their jobs and retire early. I guess they figure that it works out best for the state to have them retire and not fill all the jobs again. I am glad that workers are willing to leave early and help the state's budget if that is what it takes.

Preschool Furniture

It is getting to be that time of year already. I am hearing parents talk of getting their children prepared for heading back to school. For some it will be the first time they will send their child off to school or preschool. I can remember like it was yesterday, taking my children to their first day of preschool. The tiny little preschool furniture and all of the cute displays. It was such a fun and exciting time for them. They began to make friendships that are lasting a lifetime.

60 Years!!

After 60 years and my parents are still holding hands. We loved this picture we caught as they walked through the park last week. They will celebrate their 60th anniversary this coming Oct. What a special honor. We are very blessed that they are with us and have showed a great example to us and future generations to come.

Robern Medicine Cabinet

We still continue working on our home. We recently finished laying new carpet on half of our upper floor. Now we are looking at some improvements in our downstairs bathroom. Pigs!!

Children always seem to love visiting the farm. Our grand daughter Kaelyn is no exception. Recently she was able to spend some time on Grandpa Ray's farm. He was showing her some of the baby pigs. She loved it!!

Busy Week

I am pretty tired tonight. We've had a very busy week, and until this carpet is all put in, it is going to stay that way. I'm hoping all goes smoothly. So far I'm really liking what has been done and look forward to seeing it all done. I think it's going to look really nice. Some of that carpet has needed replacing for quite some time and looks rather warn. New and modern will be a very nice change. I don't think we'll wait that long again to get new carpet. It makes such a difference!

Summer

Can you believe July is almost over already? Where has this summer gone?! It seems winter lasts FOREVER, and then the short time we actually have nice weather it is gone before we can hardly enjoy it. Our summer hasn't been all that great so far. We have had a lot of rain, cool weather, way too hot weather...and so many mosquitoes that spending time outdoors in the evenings is out of the question. Hopefully August and September will be better.
