Biking

A few years ago Bill got a new bike. Now it is my turn. I think we will try to find a good one this fall when the sales are happening. He bought a Trek and really likes it. It has held up very well so I might look for one too. I think it would be fun to bike around town or on one of the local trails. It would be good exercise and something fun for Bill and I to do together.

Apples Again

This the time of year when we have to pick the apples from the tree and get rid of the bad ones from the ground. Bill doesn't much like the job and I don't blame him. It takes a few hours to get done and a lot of hauling away. He should be able to get it done by next week I think. He takes about a pickup load to the landfill which fortunately isn't far away so that makes it pretty handy. It's still a job that he doesn't enjoy however.

Day Off

I will be taking some days off next week which I am looking forward to. We aren't planning to do much, just get some things done around the house. We may go to the big city for a couple of days. It will be a relaxing time. I can hardly wait! I don't usually take much time off so next week will be great. I am sure we will enjoy our time around the house also. As time goes on we have been starting to plan a few more things we could do, so time will pass quickly.

Colors

It is sometimes funny when I buy something new, such as furniture, and ask Bill if he likes the color. He really doesn't care and doesn't have a great eye for matching colors. I think I do a pretty good job in decorating. Bill just tends to go along with what ever I like and doesn't make a big deal of it. That is probably a good thing. It makes life easier for me. I enjoy shopping and picking out new things. It would be tough if we both had a strong opinion and they didn't mesh.

New Teeth

Emry and Kaelyn are getting some new teeth. They are both about ten months old and it is neat to see how they are changing. I am sure that the teeth coming in are not very comfortable but they are handling it pretty well. They seem to be opposites. It bothers Emry at night and Kaelyn in the daytime. They are both very sweet little babies. We love to see them every chance we get. Which isn't often enough for me.

Vegas Vacations

As we raised our family, one thing we always tried to do was to take a yearly family vacation. Whether big or small the kids totally enjoyed them. Now that they are grown and having families of their own, they find that those vacations are still important to them. It's such a great bonding time for everyone. We all feel that the Vegas vacations are awesome. There is so much to see and do there. My husband and I are hoping to go back soon.

Obama vs McCain

Well, this is the year for voting. I have heard so often already that the economy is the way it is, the stocks are down and the gas prices are awful, all because of the election year. Why is that? Why should an election year cause things to turn in such a negative way? I would like someone to explain that to me. I also wish that there was a candidate I felt strongly in backing. I guess time will tell. We'll all have to wait and see what happens I guess.

Kitchen Faucets

It has been fun to redo our home this past year. We started with replacing pictures, shelves, flowers etc. Then we decided to redo our bathroom and kitchen. We found ourselves shopping for new brushed nickel bathroom and kitchen faucets. There are a lot of beautiful choices out there. I like the high curved neck type of faucets. So now both bathrooms and the kitchen have a new look.

Acne Treatment

In raising my children, I found that they are all three quite different. I needed to handle each child individually. That was also true when it came to dealing with acne. Over the counter medicines worked perfectly for two of them and a prescribed acne treatment was needed for the third. Even as adults we can find ourselves searching for answers when it comes to this problem. It's nice that there are some solutions available.

Stormy

It's been a bright and sunny day today. Now all of the sudden it is starting to turn a bit gray out there. I think that I heard we may receive some rain. A little rain isn't bad, but we don't need that heavy flooding that we saw this past spring. The grass and my plants are sure in need of rain. They are all looking dry lately. I guess time will tell.

Debt Consolidation

Years ago when we first got married, we found it difficult to get accepted by a credit card company. Fresh out of college and with no credit what so ever, it was a hard road. We finally received our first credit card and purchased a sofa and chair. That was huge for us. It took a long time to slowly pay that back and we learned that we wanted to save the money before buying something, in the future. We have held a fairly healthy financial picture since those days. I'm not even sure where we learned how to do this. Now a days, there are many people who are struggling to keep their heads above water. I'm not always sure what has gone wrong, but know that it has to be in financial choices that have been made in the past. Whether it is Credit card debt or other types of debt, some are looking for a way of Debt relief and assistance. They are not always sure where to turn. With the internet at your fingertips, Bills IQ can give some Debt help advice while improving your financial score. There are many now looking at Debt consolidation. It gives them a sense of financial security in organizing their bills. It's a great way to build up a healthier and more secure way of living.

Maltese

I work with a gal that has a Maltese puppy. His name is Teddy and he sounds like such a cutie. The Maltese would have been our second choice of breed when we were hunting for a dog. They are similar to Zoe our Bichon, but their hair is straighter and often they are a much smaller dog. I want to meet little Teddy sometime. I love puppies. One gal told me that they cost quite a bit more then a bichon also. I don't know about that.

Swimsuits

My husband and I went on a cruise this past winter. In planning for the trip we had to think about many things. One area was, what clothes were we going to take? Knowing that we were going to be traveling, we began shopping and purchasing some new clothes. We knew that we would have to look at swimsuits. You have to have a new swim suit or even two if you're going cruising. I was excited to find some for both of us. It's not always easy to do.

LCD TV

We owned a 52" Projector type TV. It was huge, bulky and heavy. We decided it was time to purchase a 47" LCD TV. What a difference. It is thin, sleek and light weight. The picture is beautiful and it's something I think we can get use too. Bill did some research before purchasing. He always hunts for the best deals. He found a great price with free shipping. You can't beat that. I think that we should enjoy it for a long time to come.

Massage Therapy

A few months back I was under a lot of added stress. We were short handed at work and I was working more hours and under stressful conditions. One morning while preparing to go to work, I suddenly had a kink in my back. It was difficult to even finish drying my hair. I some how struggled my way to work and found the situation not improving. I sought out massage therapy. It did seem to help me relax some. It took a week or so, and I was feeling better. That is not a fun thing to go through.

New Switches

We have been replacing light switches in our home little by little. The new ones are the kind that are a rocker type switch. They look very nice and are more modern which is what I wanted. Some of the old ones were original to the house which was built in 1971. They had held up pretty well I would say.

What do you pay for?

Package Delivery

I am patiently waiting for the UPS driver to deliver a package to our house. Well, maybe not patiently. The delivery is supposed to be today according to the UPS tracking information. I keep looking out the window as if that is going to get the package here any sooner. I guess we just need to wait for them. Hold on! You may not believe this but the UPS truck just arrived. Yippee

Cool Night

Last night was much cooler. We left the air on but I think we could have opened windows before bedtime. The temps have still been fairly high in the daytime but it felt pretty nice this morning. I am not one that complains about the heat so I won't. It is much better than winter weather. We could use a little rain. I heard there is a chance late tonight.

Las Vegas Vacations

Several years ago we traveled out West. We took our children for one of those Las Vegas vacations. Ever since that trip, I have wanted to return for another visit. There is a site that offers great deals on Las Vegas hotels, shows, Night Clubs, Vegas tours, attractions, VIP Specials and more. They find the best hand-picked selection for you. As they say "Best of Vegas"! They are dedicated in doing so. You will find the best Vegas shows and deals available. The prices are amazing. We definitely have to make a return trip. Browse this site to learn more about what you’ve been missing.

Shoulder

I am sure feeling my right shoulder again tonight. I have been sitting here with an ice pack on it while I type. It does seem to help some. I could tell it was time to take the ice off though. It is feeling a bit numb. I may have to break from typing for a while. I think I may have some kind of deep heat rub I could try also.

Photo Imaging

I love taking pictures. After I have downloaded them, it would be nice to do some minor adjustments to some of them. I like to add borders, frames, crop and size, change lighting, turn from color to B&W, Take out the red-eye and more. Photo software can help a person to do most of those things. Since we bought our new computer, we have been in need of some photo software. I am going to give Photo Explosion a try. I hope I am as pleased with it as I was with Picture It. We'll soon find out.

Blister Relief

You know how it is to begin wearing a new pair of shoes. You can find yourself with blisters and sores in the process. The pain can become quite unbearable. Now there is no need to suffer. With the ENGO Patches you can have immediate Blister Relief. Earlier in the year, Tamarack habilitation Technologies, Inc. sent out over 1,000 sample packs of ENGO. They were sent to NHWC members at both the Today’s Health & Wellness and North American Hunter (NAH) member groups. They were put through the tests of effectiveness, prevention, relieving pain, ease of use, price and other characteristics. The results were amazing. Click in and see for yourself.

Stoves and Refrigerators

With the flooring guys coming in a few days, we are needing to clean out some closets and under the appliances. That is a job that seems to be pushed aside most times. It feels great when the job is done, but isn't much fun. Bill is hard at it as I am blogging. He has the stove out and is attempting to clean under it. It's not that important that it get done perfectly, because they will be covering it with new flooring anyway. Bill is a perfectionist however. :)

Chiropractor

Bill has struggled over the past few years with his back. He can be just fine one minute and laid up the next. He finds himself twisted and contorted while he walks. It can be as simple as stooping down to pick up his shoe and suddenly he is in pain. Recently he has been dealing with this issue again. Yesterday, he decided it had been long enough, so he went to the Chiropractor. He thought it helped him some. He's not totally sold.

Lilaguide.com

Having a baby, especially for new parents can bring about lots and lots of questions. New babies are something that our family is very used to....as we have had two children have babies within the past year. I know the girls had lots of questions as to what were the best products and services for their children. They are both very good to do a lot of research and read reviews before buying or doing anything. That goes for the toys they buy, the doctor's they see, and even the foods that they make. I think it's great, but can take a lot of time which they don't really have. That's why I was happy to come across Lilaguide.com. This is a site affiliated with The Knot Inc...a very well known event media and services company. Lilaguide.com is a website that offers REAL parent reviews on baby shops, gear and services....basically everything a parent would need! I am definitely going to share this site with our girls...as they will appreciate having so many reviews and real opinions from other parents. I think it will make it easier for them to purchase products and use services that they know are best for their babies, and will help to give them peace of mind when doing so.

Decorating...The Best Part!

We have had the chance to go up and spend time at our daughter's house many times over the past couple of months. They are working on some home improvements in their basement, and Bill has been helping Scott get that finished. This weekend we actually got to see the project coming to an end. It looks SO nice!! With the paint, carpet and new cabinet the rooms are definitely coming together. Now comes the fun part that both Jen and I enjoy....decorating! It's nice because she already has quite a few things she can use....so she won't even have to spend much money on this part of the remodel! I'm looking forward to helping her decorate....as she has a very nice space and so many nice things to use. It should look really nice once it's all done.

Just Between Friends Consignment Sale

Last Spring, Bill, Scott, Kaelyn, Jenna and I all went to a great consignment sale about an hour away from where we live. This consignment sale is called, Just Between Friends, and is geared towards parents and children. It is every parents dream to have a place where they can find clothing, toys and other things for reasonable prices and in great condition....it was for me anyways. I know Jen really enjoys going and finding clothes for Kaelyn and toys that she can use. The neat thing about this sale is that it happens 2-3 times a year. That means the time is coming for another sale and I'm really looking forward to it! I believe we are going to the one in September and it should be a lot of fun! Hopefully we'll find some great deals and lots of clothes and toys for the little ones!

Now you can try it out and see what you think first without even having to give your credit card information. Check out their site to learn more today!

Reading Blogs

Typically when I have a little extra time and am on the computer, I enjoy browsing the internet and reading other people's blogs. I find it fascinating to read other people's opinions on things and enjoy hearing their personal stories. There are so many different blogs out there....each pertaining to it's own reader base. I for one enjoy reading the blogs that are personal, and ones that I can relate to as a parent, grandparent, etc. If you're someone who is more into technology...there are many, many sites out there with this type of information as well. It's fun because the information available is absolutely endless. If you had a whole day to spend online....you could use it all just browsing through blogs.

Watching HGTV

Bill and I don't get a lot of time to watch television, but when we do the HGTV channel is usually on. There is almost always something on this channel that I enjoy watching. It's fun to see the transformation made in homes, and all the unique ideas that the designers offer. I've really enjoyed getting some ideas on ways to update my own home from watching these shows as well. The smallest things can feel like the biggest changes...making a room feel completely different. For instance, we painted an accent wall in our kitchen...and boy what a difference! It warmed it up and made it feel like a whole new room. We also did the same in our addition, as well as adding a stripe on two of the walls. This also warmed up the room and made it more inviting. Without spending a great deal of money, it's amazing the things you can do.

Learning Toys For Babies

As our grandchildren get older, they begin to use new toys. Seeing all of the fun things they have to play with really causes me to see how far things have come since my kids were little. Don't get me wrong, they had some furn things to play with as well...but the learning toys available today are just amazing. Kids have so much available to them, and usually for quite affordable prices. I'm glad that our grandchildren have some of these things to use as it I feel it helps with their physical, mental and even social development. It's neat to see them learning new things and the fact that their toys enhance those experiences is really neat.

Make Money Easily From Home

Have you ever found yourself wishing that there was a way to easily make a little extra money each month? There's probably not too many people out there that can say "no" to that question. Most enjoy an opportunity to make money if it's easy and especially if it can be done from the comfort of your own home. What exactly am I referring to? Well....the wonderful world of blogging. I know many people who use blogs to keep their family informed about what's going on in their lives, and to write about things that are important to them. What's great is that these people can also make money by still blogging about the things they love. There are so many terrific opportunities to blog for money online...all you need to do is seek them out. I've actually really enjoyed doing it. Not only is it a way for me to make some money, but it also gives me the opportunity to give my opinions on things and make a difference when it comes to the products and services out there that we use. If you would like to make a little extra money each month and think it would be fun to do it from home....blogging for money is definitely something you may want to check out!

Whiner

Our dog Zoe is a great dog but there are times when she is a whiner. Tonight for example, she is doing nothing else but whine. Bill usually takes her for a walk after supper but it is so humid outside that they may have to miss a night. She is not taking it well at all. She goes from room to room and cries.

Pantry

We are getting ready for new flooring and that means areas need to be cleaned up first. Tonight Bill emptied the pantry closet, cleaned the floor and painted it's walls. It is cleaner than I have seen it since the last time we got new flooring. Wow, it looks great. I didn't realize it but the shelving needed a bit of tightening also. Bill got a lot done tonight. He grilled our supper, got trash ready for tomorrows pickup and made the pantry ready for new flooring.

Honeymoon Vacation

Are you getting married? Have you thought about a romantic get-away? Now a days people are choosing to get married and take their honeymoon vacation, all in the same location. It can be a romantic and unique experience. The Riviera Maya is a beautiful white sand beach location that is unforgettable. These resorts can supply about everything you might need. They have the flowers, decorations, documents, reception, photographer, wedding cake, beachfront location and more. Mexico can provide a relaxing, romantic, sunset location. Plan your amazing wedding and honeymoon in Mexico. There are several different resorts and all are beautiful locations.

Sofa

As we continue working and transforming our home, I am finding more to do. Bill is wondering when we will be done. It anything ever really done? I don't think so. I had been staring out into my familyroom, knowing that there was still something that needed doing. It was the furniture. It screamed "country" and that is what I have been trying to get away from. So this past weekend we went shopping and purchased a new sofa, loveseat and matching chair. They are the new micro-fiber material in a sage green color. We should be having that delivered later this week also. How fun!

Painting

We have been redoing and changing some things in our home. This past weekend we painted an accent wall in the hall way. I really like how it turned out. Tonight my husband Bill is painting and cleaning the kitchen pantry. We are going to have new flooring placed at the end of the week, so we are trying to clean up everything before hand. I'm really excited to see how it turns out.

Kitten

Jake was contemplating getting some kind of pet. He thought it over and it was between a ferret or a kitten. I voted for a kitten. We weren't to sure about how Jenna and I might be around her. We have allergies to pet hair and dander. Jake purchased a FURminator brush that will leave his kitten pretty much non shedding. It's wonderful. He also bought her soft claws. Even as a kitten, her claws are extremly sharp. Soft claws puts a plastic coating on them. It really works. It's the neatest thing. His kitten's name is Mylie. She's so sweet.

Best Headphones

My husband and I both find the benefit of music. When we are at leisure, play or work we take pleasure in having Christian music going. It can change our entire mood, frame of mind and help center our thoughts for the day. There are times when one of us needs peace and quiet. That's when it's nice to bring out the best headphones we own. We happen to have Bose, but there are many great brands out there.

Patio Furniture Covers

Last summer we purchased some new patio furniture. It is a rod iron type of furniture. We are very pleased with it and would like to have it around for a long time to come. The only thing is the cushions are wearing due to the weather and the direct sun. I think we had better start looking around for some patio furniture covers. I know others that use that type of thing. It would help save on the lifetime of the cushions.

Cabinet

We went up to our daughter's place yesterday. Our son-in-law and our youngest son were going to tackle creating a bookshelf/end table piece of furniture. The kids have a sump pump pipe going up the wall in their basement family room. They wanted something nice to cover it up. The project took some unexpected turns and the guys were up until 1AM working on it. This morning we received an email showing that they had finished putting it together, pretty much. Scott, our son-in-law, was busy staining it out in the garage. It's so nice when family works together so well.

Alzheimer's Memory Walk

As time goes on I hear of more people who are struggling with the Alzheimer's Disease. Whether they have it themselves, or known someone who does...it seems to effect so many people. Our family has dealt directly with Alzheimer's and has seen the way it can completely change someone over time. My mother in law was diagnosed in 1995 and over the years went from a vibrant, intelligent woman who was so full of life, to someone who doesn't know anyone close to her and can't remember her past at all. In fact, she's a state now of not communicating or really showing any emotion. It's such a sad thing to see.

Having more information about this disease, as well as a cure would be wonderful! I know that there are people working hard towards this and I hope that one day they are successful. In fact, the Alzheimer's Memory Walk has put on the nation's largest event to help raise awareness and money for Alzheimer's care, research and more! Volunteers of any age can participate in the Memory Walk. They always need team captains and it's a great way to get involved and make a difference. If you'd like to participate you can learn more by going to their site.

Donuts

Why is it that a big sweet Donuts sounds so good in the morning? Of course a hot cup of coffee with that donut, makes it a perfect combo. Bill had to work late last night, so he went in to work late this morning. He was going for his daily workout at the local YMCA and I mentioned that he could pick up rolls on his way home if he wanted too. He's so good. He stopped and bought me a huge raised glazed cinnamon roll. Now I can sit and blog while eating my sweet roll and drinking my hot coffee. Life is good. :)
