Busy Weekend

What a busy weekend we've had again. It's been a lot of fun though. Packed, cleaned and got ready to leave on Friday. Got up early on Sat. and headed down to Center Point. We attended our grandson's baby dedication in Diana's home church. We also went to a surprise baby shower for Emry. Di's family are so kind and giving. We had a wonderful time. Then we headed to Jake's apartment and stayed the night. He has a nice place and we felt right at home. We returned home today and started to repack to head up to our daughter's (Jenna) home tomorrow for New Years Eve. Jake will be joining us. Should be a fun time. :)

Christmas

Christmas is a special time of year. We can often get caught up in the rush of shopping, wrapping, decorating, baking, parties and family gatherings. This year I tried to slow down and take time to think upon what Christmas is really about. The reason for the season. I thanked the Lord for another blessed Christmas and all He has done for us. We enjoyed celebrating Jesus birthday.

So Much Fun!!

Babies, Babies, Babies! Everyone has made it home for Christmas. It's so much fun to have family around. We all went and stayed at Scott, Jenna and Kaelyn's on Friday. Josh and Di got to see their new home. Jake joined us that night also. Then we all traveled back to our home for a few days. We have been having such a good time!

Kids Will Be Home Soon!

By the weekend we will have all of our children home with us. Josh, Di and Emry are on their way up north as I type. Friday we will all head to Scott, Jenna and Kaelyn's, where Jake will join us after getting off of work. Some of them haven't even met Emry and vise versa (Kaelyn). We are going to have such a good time! I'm so excited!

Snack Avoidance

We have been trying to avoid late night snacks. I think that we could lose a little weight by just cutting down on the food intake in the evening. We used to munch on popcorn and M&Ms along with a soda but I know that isn't a great snack late at night. And wouldn't you know it, as I am writing this, Bill is bringing me a sucker. I think we can splurge a bit and have one.

Christmas Party

Last night we had my office Christmas party. Most everyone attends and brings their spouses. I have worked there long enough now that Bill knows the other guys pretty well. We have taken trips together and had other office functions together. In late winter we will all be taking a cruise to Cozumel. We should have a great time. But, anyway, the party was very nice. We always meet at one of the Drs. homes and have a catered meal, exchange gifts and socialize. It was a nice night.

Planning Christmas

I have found throughout the years that it has been difficult at times trying to figure out which days we will have Christmas on one side or the other. Then to find a time to share Christmas with our own immediate family besides. As our children have grown up and now are beginning their own families, we find that this too can add to the equation. Bill and I have talked about it and feel that we never want to become an added burden for our children. We will work around their schedules as much as possible. We don't need to celebrate the Holiday on the day of. When ever we can all get together is fine with us. I hope it will eliminate some stress in their lives.

Kaelyn

What a nice weekend we have had. We got a lot of things done for Christmas. I baked and wrapped. Then on Sat. Scott, Jenna and Kaelyn decided to come visit for the weekend. It was so much fun seeing them. The babies are changing so fast. I hate to miss a moment. I sure wish Josh, Di and Emry were closer. Someday! :)

A Time To Remember

We all know the true meaning of Christmas and this year will be the first time we celebrate with our two new grandchildren. It will definitely be a time to remember. We look forward to sharing the love and joy that we have for these little ones. I know that they are 'brand new' but they will sense that love in our home. It's also fun to see toys under the tree again! It's been a long time since we've had those. It will be a great time!

Favorite Shows

I am sure we all have our favorite shows on television. There are a few that I enjoy watching like, The Rifleman, Greys Anatomy, House and CSI. We generally like to watch the Las Vegas CSI more than the NY or Miami. I know other people that prefer the NY and Miami versions of CSI but I have never really gotten into those. To each their own I guess. But, Bill and I do enjoy catching the Rifleman nightly if we can.

Simple Things

I don't know about you but I enjoy some very simple things in life. For example, I don't need fancy cars or homes. I like the little gifts that Bill buys me throughout the year and don't need expensive jewelry all the time. I admit that I do like my jewelry but it isn't something I have to have huge quantities of. I like to have easy to make, simple meals sometimes and don't have to have a huge supper each day. Simple is good.

What a Nice Day

Today we had such a nice time. My birthday is this Tuesday, so my daughter wanted to be sure and see me sometime by then. We decided that since Kaelyn was going to be announced in church today, that we would go up and spend the day with them. We came up early and went to church. We then went back to Scott and Jen's for a while and just enjoyed visiting and relaxing. Of course we got to spend some time with Kaelyn too!!:) After that we went out to eat at Perkins...a place I really enjoy eating when we're up visiting them. I wish that we could have stayed longer, but I needed to get home and get some things done before the work week ahead. I had a very nice time though!!

Already December

Wow! I can hardly believe that it's going to be December already!! It seems like just yesterday it was October and we were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our Grandson and Granddaughter. Now...here we are...over a month later and getting ready for Christmas already!! I knew it would come quickly, but didn't know it time would fly by as quickly as it has. That's ok with me though. It just means we're that much closer to Christmas. It can be a stressful time of year, but I try and stay focused on what the season is really about...our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! He is the true Reason for the Season!

Four Generation Pictures

I think it's so neat to take Generations pictures when your able to in a family. When my oldest sister Sherrie had her first baby...she was able to take a five generations picture with my Great Grandma, my Grandma, my mom, herself and her daughter. I thought that was so neat. Now my daughter has a daughter and we were able to get a neat picture with my mom, myself, Jen and Kaelyn at Thanksgiving. It was so neat that we were able to get this four generation picture...something to cherish always. When Diana's Grandma and parents were down in Texas after Emry was born, she was able to get a four generation picture with them and Emry as well. What a blessing it is to have four generations in these pictures and all together!!

Thanksgiving

We had such a nice Thanksgiving this year. We were still in Texas for Thanksgiving Day...so we made a nice Thanksgiving dinner with Josh, Di and Emry. It was nice being able to spend Thanksgiving with them...as most years we are here and they are down there. We had such a nice time together. Then, now that we're back home, yesterday we had Thanksgiving at our house. Scott, Jenna and Kaelyn came, Jake and Renee were there, as well as my brother and his family and my parents. We had a yummy dinner and even played some games. It was nice being able to see all the kids and even spend time with some of my family as well!! Now we're back at work and back into the the swing of things until Christmas...which I'm sure will be here before we know it!

Emry William

We're very excited that we're down here in Texas and able to enjoy spending time Josh, Diana and our new Grandson, Emry William! He's such a sweetheart. He's very alert and content much of the time. It's been fun to see him change even in the short time that we've been here so far. It's amazing how little babies change so quickly. He's already growing and is focusing on people more and more. It's going to be hard to leave them in a few days as we are going to miss them greatly! We are looking very forward to seeing them over Christmas though!! I can't wait!!!!

Emry is Here!

Well...we finally got the call!! Little Emry was born early this morning!! We were SOO excited to get the call and can't wait to head down to Texas on Thursday! We're so excited to meet him and to see Josh and Diana. We've already been e-mailed a few pictures and he looks like such a sweetie. It's nice that Di's parents and Grandma are down visiting them right now...that way there are people there to help them and spend time with them as they embark on this wonderful journey of parenthood!!

On Our Way Home

Well, we've been at Scott and Jen's the past week and have had a blast getting to spend time with them and Kaelyn. She's such a sweet little girl! We're getting ready to head home today and it will be hard to leave after being here for so long. I know they will do a wonderful job though and we'll get to see them often! We are going to work for a few days and then are planning on heading down to Texas. We're still waiting on that call...so hopefully we'll hear something soon from Josh and Di.

Zoe and Kaelyn

I wasn't quite sure how Zoe would handle being around the new baby. She has been quite spoiled up until now. She's never been around babies before. We have her here at Jen and Scott's with us and it's been quite the experience. She's very curious and just isn't sure what to think of this whole situation. She gets very nervous and wants to sniff and lick Kaelyn a lot. I don't think she'd intentionally try and hurt her, but Zoe is much bigger than Kaelyn and I'm afraid she may accidentally scratch her or step on her. We're keeping Zoe away from Kaelyn as much as possible until Kaelyn is bigger and Zoe is less nervous.

Coming Home Today!

Today is the day that Jenna and Kaelyn get to come home from the hospital!! We're going to head up there early and help them get everything ready to come home. We're really happy that we get to spend the week with them. After having a C-section, Jenna is really happy that we're going to be around to help Scott and her this first week with Kaelyn home. I'm sure I will continue to update everyone on our stay and Kaelyn...she's such a sweetie.

We're still waiting to hear from Josh and Di on the arrival of their little one. Diana was due the day before Jenna...and she is going over her due date as well. We're keeping our cell phones by us at all times, just waiting to hear from them. We can't wait to meet our little Grandson (they already know what they're having) when we go down to Texas after he is born! This is such an exciting time in our lives. We are truly blessed!

Our Granddaughter...Kaelyn Sue

Yesterday, at about 2 am we got a call from Scott telling us that he was taking Jen to the hospital, as she had started getting pretty strong contractions in the middle of the night. We were so excited and knew that our little Grandbaby would be here before we knew it!! I got off work early yesterday and we hurried over there so we were sure to be there when the baby was born. It ended up being a little longer and harder labor than anyone had expected, but Jen and the baby were healthy and Kaelyn Sue was born at 10:55 PM. We were SO excited to be there and were so happy to be able to meet little Kaelyn. She's so cute!! We're going to be heading back up today and staying for the remainder of the week to help Jen and Scott out with whatever they need. I can't wait to spend more time with them and our new Granddaughter!

Trick Or Treat

Tonight is the night when all the little kids go out trick or treating in our neighborhood. We took part in this for many, many years while our kids were young and even after they grew up and moved out of the house. Now however, we have decided that we don't want to hand out candy this year and just enjoy an evening out to eat with another couple. It should be a really wonderful time...I'm looking forward to it a lot. Maybe next year we'll do the whole handing out candy thing, we'll just have to see. All I know is this year we had a great time going out to eat with our friends.

Ring Ring Ring

Every time the phone rings we wonder if it's one of the kids telling us Di or Jen have gone into labor. Diana was due yesterday with their little one, and Jenna was/is due today. As you can imagine, every time the phone rings we're thinking it's probably one of them telling us the good news. We know that there's a chance they may go over on their due dates...especially since this is the first child for each of them... but we can't help but be excited that soon we'll get that much anticipated telephone call that we are about to become Grandparents!! It's such an exciting time!!!! Hopefully we'll hear from both couples very soon.:) I guess we can only patiently sit back and wait.

Uncle Jake

Our son Jake is sure excited to be an uncle!! He can't wait to have those little babies around...I know he's counting down along with the rest of us. He'll make such a wonderful uncle. He's a very giving person and will give much of his time to see the two of them when he can. I know he's especially looking forward to Christmas this year and having the two of them around. He's even planning on giving them each a special gift once they arrive, specific to his line of work. I think the kids are really going to love what he has planned for the babies!! It will be fun to see him with the two babies and get lots of pics over the holidays!! He and his girlfriend, Renee, are both very excited!!

Josh & Jenna are 25!

As I've mentioned before, our two oldest children are twins. Yesterday was their 25th birthday!! Where does the time go?? It seems to just fly by the older they get. The pics I have included in this post go to show how they grow!:) One of them lives in Texas so we didn't get to see him, but we did get to chat with him on the phone and wish him a very Happy Birthday. Our daughter however, only lives a short distance away, so we were able to go up and spend the day with her and her husband. We thought about going out to eat, but instead she wanted me to make her one of her favorite meals...enchiladas. She absolutely loves them!! After eating we all decided to go to the movie Rendition. We thought it was a pretty good movie...keeping you wondering what was going to happen next. We had a very nice time and I think Jenna and Scott did as well. Jen's due to have her baby any time now...so it was nice that she was able to get out a bit.

Warm & Cozy

It sure has been cold out lately! Usually this time of year it does get cooler outside, but the weather lately makes me think that winter may come early. I suppose that's not all bad since that often means winter will end early as well. However, even with that outlook in mind...it doesn't change the cold weather we're having now and how nice a warm cozy house feels this time of year. Our house stays pretty warm, but I've often thought it would be great to have a fireplace. My daughter and her husband have a fireplace and they just love it. They haven't used it much yet, but I'm sure as winter progresses they will use it more and more. It's really got me thinking that we may need to look into getting a gas fireplace for our family room this winter...wouldn't that be nice?!?

Buying Toys

I absolutely cannot wait to be a Grammy! :) The time is nearing and Bill and I are having so much fun preparing by buying toys and other things that we know will be used by our Grandchildren. I've gotten many things that I know the babies will use when they are very small. I was fortunate enough to find a great Graco swing, a bouncy seat, a play mat, and other items like this that small babies just love! We've also been having fun transforming part of our basement into a play area for when the Grandkids get a bit older. We've been searching around and have found many fun Little Tikes toys...like a kitchen set, a grill, rocking chair, food, and so much more!! It's been so much fun and will be great when the kids can use all of these fun things we have for them!

Blogging for Money...and for Fun!!

It's been nearly a year that I've been doing this blogging thing now. I started out thinking it would be a great way to make some extra money when I created my first two blogs, Bill and Vicky's Blog and Vick's Views and Reviews. Now however, I think of it more than just a way to make money, it's a way to journal about my thoughts on life and those things that are important to me. I do like how there are opportunities out there to make money with my blogs, but it's also fun to have a site personalized by me with entries about things that are going on pertaining to my family, friends, job, etc. It's actually become a hobby for me...as it's something I really enjoy. My son got me started in blogging and I can't thank him enough!! What a neat way it is to stay connected with my family, friends and other bloggers.

Zoe & The Babies

I've been getting very excited for the arrival of our two new grandchildren. It's such a fun time! In thinking about how quickly that time is going to come...I've also been pondering the thought of Zoe and how she will react to the babies. She's grown up in our home...mainly with just my husband and I. She really has only been around adults, and probably will not know what to think of a baby. I'm hoping that she reacts well to the new addition to our family...but it could be quite the transition for her...as right now she is the spoiled baby in our family. Soon there will be someone who gets more attention than her and I'm not sure how that will go. I guess we'll find out soon enough!!

The Countdown Begins

Well, the girls are beginning their countdown....not that they haven't been counting down for months now...but it's getting so close that they're actually counting down days now instead of months. I can't hardly believe that it's only a few weeks away before two of my children become parents and we become Grandparents. Life is so wonderful. It's been such an exciting time to watch both the girls go through their pregnancies and anticipate their soon new arrivals!! Both my son and his wife, and my daughter and her husband are so excited!! What a blessing babies are from God. The countdown has officially begun and I'm sure the date will be here before we know it!! YYEEAAHH!!

Baby Shower

We recently had a baby shower for Scott and Jenna. We sure had a good time. It was all of Scott's family and all of our family there to help them celebrate the arrival of their little one at the end of this month. Scott's aunts are sure creative. They had so many fun games that we played. There was also a lot of yummy food there too. Jen and Scott got a lot of really nice things for the baby as well. They decided not to find out whether they were having a girl or a boy...so they got lots of neutral colors which is great!! It was a fun time and now we just can't wait to meet this baby!!

Can't forget Zoe

I was just looking at what I had done with my blog so far, and realized that in my first post...I forgot to mention one VERY important family member...our dog Zoe. Zoe has been part of our family for over 6 years now! She's a Bichon Frise and the sweetest dog you will ever find. She's so good. We can leave her home for many hours and she is just an angel. We love having her as a part of our family so much. She's wonderful company and always happy to see us. If you're ever looking for a great a family dog...you should definitely think about getting a Bichon...they're wonderful!!
