Guns

More and more guns are being purchased.  Is the reason due to the current administration in Washington?  Some say that is exactly the reason.  There are many that want guns for self protection and others that enjoy target shooting.  We have several friends that are gun owners, many of them own more than one gun.  I have looked at guns but really know little about them.  I might do some research and buy one too.

Cookies

We have a cookie recipe that is awesome.  My husband bakes them a couple times a month and those we don't eat in the first or second day, we freeze.  They are so good.  They are easy to make too.  I got the recipe from a friend and we have used this same recipe for many years.  I think that I may suggest that my husband make some tonight.  He is always willing because the cookies are that good.

Slatwall Panels

The stores are bustling.  Christmas time is here.  I have noticed that some stores have cleared things out.  The look is new and different.  It appears cleaner.  The Slatwall Panels are set up to accommodate just so many items.  It is much easier to look through.  Things are crazy enough without the store seeming that way also.

Cheap Yard Sign Printing

I think it's a great idea to make it known what you are doing.  I have noticed more and more signs set up in yards while people are working there.  You can order cheap yard sign printing.  It's a great way to advertise.  It can be money well spent.  We need to put some thought into that.

Buy Cushions

In the summer months we enjoy having outdoor furniture.  We spend time outside and like to be comfortable.  We decided to buy cushions for next summer.  Looking forward to using them.  Wish weather would permit us to be out there more often.

Sanyo eneloops

It's that time of year!  Christmas is around the corner.  I think I have found a great idea for my children. They are all grown now and have children of their own.  They are always in need of batteries.  It seems that most things take batteries.  The sanyo eneloops is a useful neat idea for each family.  They can recharge and use again.  Can't beat that!

Cold Weather

I for one am not ready for the cold weather.  We had temperatures of near 70 just two days ago and now we are in the 20s.  Wow.  That is quite a change.  I prefer the warmth and I know my family does too.  Even our dog enjoys the warm weather more than the cold.  She tends not to even want to go outside when it is so cold.  I don't blame her at all.  Cold weather go away!!

Shims

My youngest son was always tinkering with something when he was little.  He still works on many different projects.  The internet is a great avenue for finding things like shims, clamps, handles etc...  It makes it a lot easier to finish what he has set his mind to do.

Since I was just a young gal I have always enjoyed taking pictures.  Through out the years my dad would tease me because I was always snapping shots.  He hated the camera, or did he really?  I don't know.  There are great photographers in raleigh nc .  It's so fun to see how creative they can be.

Dad

I took some of my grandchildren to visit my dad's grave site.  He has been gone for just over a year now.  I can't believe it's been a year already.  I sure miss him.

Monitor Display Stands

Through out the years we have found it easier to hang our TVs.  People say we have to many.  I think we have eight total.  I like to have them available in just about every room.  The monitor display stands work out well.  The ease of them and it keeps your floors clear of clutter.  It's the only way to go.

The Fam!

We recently took a trip to the Wisconsin Dells with our entire family!  They had a great water park at the resort we stayed at.  The grand kids as well as us adults all had a wonderful time.  Each year our family continues to grow.  We have added two grandchildren and a wonderful new daughter-in-law this past year!  :)  God is good!

cigar box

Growing up my dad enjoyed smoking, rolling his own cigarette's and smoking a pipe. We had many ashtrays around the house. He would pick up unique ones around the country. I can remember a cigar box he had. I opened it and took a deep smell of what was inside. For some reason I did enjoy the smell of a cigar. Cigarettes not so much.

Great Wolf Lodge

We recently took a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconcin Dells with our entire family. We did this last year and had such a great time that we decided to do it again! It's so much fun to all be together. Staying in a condo where we are all together with four bedrooms, living room, kitchen and three bathrooms is awesome! There's always something to do whether it's bowling, go cart racing or the water park. It's such a good time!

Wire Rope

We've been finishing our basement . With that the guys have been hanging a drop ceiling with wire rope. The next step will be to put in the tiles and canned lights. Soon we'll be looking at doing the flooring. It will sure be nice when it's all done. When our family comes to stay it will be nice to have the added space.

Our youngest son Jake recently got married in beautiful Colorado. What a gorgeous ceremony. He and Renee looked so happy!

Weeds

Our yard had been freshly planted with grass seed last year. We still have several bare spots but it is looking better. The back yard has quite a lot of weeds but with some new grass seed spread we were told that we shouldn't spray yet. We have also been watering often since it hasn't rained recently. Neighbors said their lawn took three years to look decent so I guess one year isn't so bad. It has come a long way and I am sure it will look even better next year.

Great grandma gifts

Sometimes it's difficult to find that perfect gift for the older generation of people in our lives. They seem to have everything. That's where it's nice to have assistance in buying great grandma gifts. My kids tend to come and ask me what they should get. I don't always know either.

Door Knobs

It may seem strange but finding the right door knobs is very important. I know, there are people that don't care what the knobs look like but I want a certain look. When we finished the basement we just matched the knobs with what was already upstairs. I would have preferred to go with a different look but decided to go basic. Knobs with actual handles is what I would have liked upstairs but to change all of them would have been quite costly. We also found that buying from our local lumberyard actually saved us money for the same knobs we found at one of the big chain stores.

I was thinking about my grandson and the skin condition he has. He deals with it a lot more in the summer time. I notices on line that they were talking about seaweed cream. I had never heard about that before. I like some of the natural ways of treating conditions. It was an interesting read.

We recently moved after 30 years. We've always had a land line and have now been thinking once again about having one. With vonage rates, we are thinking it might be a great idea. We have missed having that availability at home. Others were able to find us easier then they can now.

When I was in college I had a good friend that had grown up going to a private school. They always had to wear something like french toast uniforms. She was use to it so it didn't really bother her. It's really not a bad idea. No one can really make fun of what you're wearing that way.

I think it's great how there are giving people in the world. I love to see generosity . There are so many in need in the world. In some cases some are in need of a donation car. It's great there are ways to receive what is needed.

Increase Signal

Technology continues to move forward. If you don't learn and try to keep up, it will leave you behind. How things have changed. Ten or fifteen years ago we didn't have a decent computer. Now there are ways to increase signal in our home. I know I can be pretty impatient at times and love when things run smoothly and quickly. We're trying to keep up.

Graduation Announcements

Graduation time is almost upon us and there are a great many graduates this year in our family and extended family. Because we have had so much experience ourselves with various types of graduation announcements, many of our family members have come to us for advice on what they should do about their graduation announcements for their children. We, ourselves, went through the high school graduate announcement, then college graduation announcements and now our son is graduating and receiving his Master's degree. Because there are a number of graduations such as high school, college, Master's degree graduations and also those graduating for a career such as a dentist or doctor and other fields, I like to suggest that they get on the Internet and check out all the various types of announcements that are available. It is great to find one company that can furnish all the types you need. For example, a high school student may choose to have their school colors on their announcements. Many of them wish to have photos of themselves from childhood to adult. They all want to have the year 2012 on the announcement, of course. For those who have completed many years of study in order to become a doctor, lawyer, nurse, just to name a few examples, I've suggested graduation announcements that state the school on their announcement and a picture of their profession on it, as well. A cap and gown could also be used on high school and college graduations, as well as, gender specific announcements such as boy or girl. I have been receiving quite a few lately that have a number of photos of the graduate on them so it is all up to the graduate, actually, to help the parent out with the decisions on which graduation announcements to use. No matter what is chosen, they will no doubt be keepsakes for their families and friends for many years to come as a token of their special day. I know each one we have received has meant a great deal to us.

The Farm

Two of our grandchildren live on a farm. They have more fun together out there! They have chickens, kitties and a dog. They help mommy in planting the garden and flowers. Such a great time!

Too Cold To Walk

Our dog loves to take walks but it has been too cold to stay out very long. I think if it was up to the dog we would walk all over town. She is getting old but she still loves being outside. Over the years we have raised three children. Each one was so different. Their interests were also unique and different. Our youngest son loved music and began to take an interest in guitars. He like the B.C. Rich Guitars as well as others. He even taught himself how to play. Music can be such an important part of ones life.

Sheetrock

We have been busy working in the basement, hanging sheetrock. It is fun to see the transformation from a bare walled area to a partially completed room. It may take quite awhile to get done but that is ok with me. Eventually we will have a bathroom down there too, with a shower. How nice that will be.

Tillman gloves

We recently purchased a new home. Our basement was wide open and unfinished. My husband decided he would begin work on it. We have found that he has needed a lot of tools and equipment. A pair of tillman gloves have come in handy as well as googles and other things. There is always something new he is in need of.

Who Would Have Thought!

Our grandchildren loved their Easter baskets and the egg hunt! But the younger boys thought the bunny masks were the best! Kaden put his on right away and started hopping around. He LOVED it!

My Stingy Husband

So my husband is a bit tight when it comes to spending money on what he considers "entertainment." He has no problem spending money on other things such as tools, food and our house. We have a television set with nothing but "bunny ears" for the past 2 years. He has always been too cheap to upgrade us to cable or satellite. All of this changed when he found out cheap direct tv prices are. After much pleading he finally gave in and signed us up. I am so happy, now I won't have to rely on my friends to keep my abreast of the latest happenings on the Kardashians' show. I know he would never admit it but I think my husband actually enjoys it as well. Every so often he will just walk in the living room and turn on the news. He never watched TV before we got satellite. He would never be caught dead watching something like the Kardashians or Toddlers and Tiaras. I guess it would be rather strange though if he did watch those.

Caysen

Isn't he sweet?! Our youngest grandson is already 4 months old. How time flies He is such a happy little guy. It's easy to see with his great smile. He wasn't smiling here, but was still content.

I grew up on a farm. We had the best time out there. There were many buildings to hide in while playing. My dad was always moving fences. He would place barrel bolt locks to ensure the animals wouldn't escape. I can remember one time when a huge sow chased me across the pasture. I ran and jumped a fence. Good think I was young.

This weather is amazing!!! It is sunny and almost 80 here in the upper midwest! I can't hardly get over it! Me and my puppy dog are loving the outdoor porch right now. I'm getting some work done on the computer while basking in the sun! It doesn't get much better then this! Gotta love it!!

My free time is very limited these days. I’m a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids, but contrary to popular belief, staying home does not actually involve staying home, lol! I feel like a taxi cab most days, driving kids to and from there activities, and driving to and from appointments and errands. When I am home, have so many chores to do to keep this machine running. Laundry, cooking, cleaning, helping with homework, organizing for school the next day, making lunches, bathing kids, the list goes on and on. So, given that my time is limited, I’m trying to look for ways to speed up the things I do already, to make them more efficient. I’m curious how fast is exede satellite internet, because if it is fast than dial-up, then I’d definitely want to do that for internet. So many times I sit down at the computer, and just as I’ve logged on and connected to the internet, the baby wakes up and I have to get off. The faster, the better for me.

Steel shop buildings

Our oldest son and his family recently purchased an acreage. They have many outdoor buildings on the property. Some could be used as steel shop buildings. It's so great for them to have so many storage areas. They use one for the chickens and one for the kitties. They still have some buildings just sitting empty. It's been a great place for them to be living.

Help losing weight fast

As I've grown older, I've found that it's much more difficult to keep the extra pounds off. Most of my life I have been able to eat what ever I want and not be concerned about weight gain. Now I could use help losing weight fast. My youngest son is getting married in a few months and I would like to lose a few.

Have you ever noticed that when you see a pool you also see pool fences . I think this is to protect the public. To keep children from wondering into the area without supervision. It may also be to keep out those who are not to be using the pool. I think its a good idea to fence the area. Would hate to see an accident happen.

I have a very serious girl crush on Chelsea Handler. For one thing, she is seemingly friends with Jennifer Aniston in real life. That alone is probably enough to make me like her. That’s not the only thing she has going for her though—she is completely crass, and irreverent, and just all around hilarious. Her show After Lately leaves me in stitches every time. She pranks people, she says inappropriate things, and she borders on harassing to her staff, but everyone seems to actually love her. I need to try to tune in to her new sitcom too. I think it’s called Are you there, Chelsea? It comes on right after another one of my favorites, Whitney, on Wednesday nights. From the previews, it looks very funny, and I’m actually disappointed I keep forgetting to either tune in or DVR it. Laura Prepon is in it too, and since I loved her on That 70’s Show I’m sure I’ll be equally as impressed with her in this show. I need to be sure to add that to my “Must Watch” list. Gas Prices

Wow, gas has really gone up in price. Just in the past week or so prices have really risen. Do you think it would help if we had more oil production here is the US? It makes me wonder sometimes if that would help. I remember gas at only 32 cents a gallon when I was younger. Even a dollar per gallon would be awesome right now. I don't think we will ever see that again.

Medical Scrubs

I have worked in the medical field for many years. When I first started out we we're to wear white slacks and what ever type of top we wanted too. Then we began to wear lab coats. Now we wear medical scrubs. Each year we add a new color and sometimes retire an old one. I recently had to purchase red scrubs.

Spring

I know that we still have some Winter weather left but I do look forward to Spring. I am not a fan of the cold and snow. I prefer being able to wear light weight clothing rather than the heavy coats and boots. I know many people love the cold but I am not one of them. If you are one that enjoys the cold, I am happy for you.

Chain Nose Pliers

Years ago when we first became grandparents, I found a neat item for the girls. A gal I work with creates and makes beaded bracelets. She has everything you would need, such as a chain nose pliers, beads, rings and clasps. She made the neatest bracelets for the girls and myself. Mine says Grammy on it. I just love it!

Water Leak

My husband just hates problems with the house or car. Well, today was not exception. He noticed this morning that there was a slight water leak under the kitchen sink. When he got home from work he found that it was just a water line that needed to be tightened. He had to dry out the area under the sink which wasn't too bad. I actually thought he might react worse than he did.

Thank goodness I have clear 4g wireless service because I have been really fired up lately and love to follow the presidential election. So far, it is just the republican primaries, but I can’t get enough of the news. This is really the first election that I have really educated myself on the candidates and their point of views. I think the reason that I have been able to really educate myself this year is because of all of the political blogs, newspaper, and candidate’s websites that I have been to access from the comfort of my couch. The Republican primaries are only about a week away. It has been a roller coaster ride with different taking first place and falling down the totem poll throughout the race. I haven’t decided who I am going to vote for in the primary yet. I am going to leave it up to the day before to decide. I have some favorites, but I am going to continue to follow the news on-line, right up until it is time for me to pull the lever at the ballot box.

New Computer

Our old desktop computer seems slower than ever and I am considering buying a new one. I really don't know when we bought the desktop but I imagine it has been at least five years. We did buy a laptop a year or so ago and it is much faster than the desktop. Well, I guess I have convinced myself to buy the new computer. Hope I find a good one.
