Franchises

With the economy in the shape it is in today, we are seeing may business begin to fail. It is very sad the decline in our financial institutions and how so many are being affected. Franchises are beginning to close there doors in certain areas. Star Bucks have closed their doors in many communities. How sad to see so much decline. We can only hope that there is soon an upswing in the economy to help out these franchises that employ so many people.

Appliances

We are wanting to buy a new refrigerator and range. I would like to get them in a stainless steel finish. We looked at some yesterday and today, but so far haven't decided on what to get. We are somewhat limited on space for the frig due to our kitchen cabinets. We plan on doing some more shopping this weekend. If any of you have suggestions on what to buy, feel free to let me know.

Romantic Getaway

With the long winter we have had to endure already, we are so ready for a wonderful romantic getaway. Friends of ours recently traveled to the beautiful area of the Riviera Maya. It looked fabulous and warm. The sunshine is a must! The Karisma Resorts are located in the area and furnish a lovely back drop of white-sand beaches. They have the El Dorado Royale Spa Resort for adults only, El Dorado Seaside Suites for adults only, Azul Beach which is family friendly, Azul Blue which is also family friendly and Hidden Beach Resort which is a naturalist. There are so many to choose from and they offer a truly relaxing time away from your everyday life. Look into giving yourself that much needed get-away.

Watching Calories

Although it isn't fun, Bill and I are watching our calorie intake a bit more than we had been. Bill had his physical the other day and was not pleased with his weight. He is one that only weighs himself at his yearly physical. I think from now on he will weigh in periodically to monitor his weight. I have been wanting to start this for quite sometime and felt this was the time. It has been almost a week now and it is going well.

Pea Soup

Today I am going to make pea soup. I don't make it very often, but it is something that sounded good for a change. I put the peas in water last night before bed to let them soak. The recipe I use is from my Grandma and it is very good! Bill likes it too. Our kids were never big fans of the meal, but they would at least try it. I wonder if they would like it, now that they are grown up. It is a split pea and beef soup. Not a ham and pea soup which is what most people think of when you talk pea soup. Can't wait for lunch. Yum Yum!

A Little Break

Jenna and Kaelyn stayed with us for a few days because Scott was on a trip with his work to southern Missouri. He and others were golfing which I am sure Bill wishes he could do about now. Hopefully Scott enjoyed his little break. Within the next few weeks we should have nice weather and then Bill can golf too.

The Oscars

Have you tuned into the Oscars tonight? I have and am finding it to be quite interesting. It is a platform to give appreciation to some of the top movies of the year. Although the choices made may not have been what I would have chosen, it was still quite entertaining.

Computer Skills

Over the years I know many adults that have improved their computer skills. Kids just come by these skills naturally. They use computers every day in school and again at home. My kids were no different. They were very good with computers at a young age. When I have a computer problem I call one of them. They are the pros.

Golf

Bill loves to golf. He is one that even likes to watch golf on television. I can't say that I understand that but he enjoys it. He tends to keep an eye on ebay for clubs. He does buy one every once in awhile but I think he mainly likes to see what is selling. I am sure he wonders why I like the things I do too. To each their own I guess.

Printer Ink

We do quite a lot of printing at home. The ink cartridges don't seem to last a long time. I remember Josh had an ink cartridge for the better part of a year in college and didn't run out. That is amazing. We go through several in a years time. Our printer takes one black and one color cartridge. Every time we change them out the computer wants to print a test page. I don't know how to prevent that. I wish I did because we use the ink more quickly when test pages are printed.

Straws

It's so much fun to watch our grandchildren grow. They are ever changing. Recently they both started to walk and talk more. Kaelyn our granddaughter just started to sip through a straw. It looks so cute to see her. It seems there is something new going on every week. They are growing more independent as each day passes. We feel so blessed to be able to share in this process. They are the best! :)
