Hungry Dog

Zoe is almost always hungry. Right now she is begging for food. She can be a real pain at times. What she needs is to live 'off the fat of the land' as they say. She is quite the chunk. Now that it has warmed up I have been taking her for walks, usually around the block. She loves it and so do I.

Grocery Day

Today was grocery day. Many times we need two carts upon check out but today we needed only one. Bill and I work pretty well as a team and get groceries put away quickly. It looks a little like a small store shelf at times.

Flooring

Today it seems that hard wood flooring is becoming more and more popular. I'm not really sold on it yet. My daughter has several rooms of it and she finds it to be a pain. They get dusty easily and any water spotting seems to show. She feels that she needs to clean it with a special cleaner and often is on her hands and knees. Does not sound good to me. I like my comfy soft carpets that do not show the dust.

Drawers

Do you ever notice how cluttered drawers can get? I find that the ones in the kitchen are the worst. Our pencil and tool drawers become such a mess. It is difinetly time for me to clean them out again. Maybe this week.

New Car

Jake has been looking to buy a new car. Well, not actually new but a different car. He and Renee have a wedding to go to today and on the way they are going to be checking out a car. It is a 2004 Mazda RX8 with only 13,000 miles. He knows that if it is supposed to work out it will. He isn't over anxious, just very calm about the whole thing. He has already found out that he can trade his car in, how much his payments and insurance will be and everything else about this car. He has done his homework.

New Streets

Our city is planning on doing some work in town including new streets. The streets in our part of town are in need of repair. Apparently the sewer system needs work too. My hope is that both projects will be done at the same time so we don't get assessed on each job separately. Those assessments can be quite high and extend over many years. I plan on talking to our mayor about this issue.

Primary

Soon will be our primary election on the local level. We have a couple people running for sheriff and whoever doesn't gets the nomination will probably run as an independent. Neither one would really want to work for the other in my opinion. Signs are posted all over the county. It will be an interesting race.

Weeds

We had some dandelions in the yard but not as many as some of the neighbors. Bill bought some granular stuff the other day and has put it on the grass. He got two bags but he said it only took one of them. Apparently this product is supposed to kill weeds but won't hurt the grass. I am glad that Bill likes to mow because I really don't enjoy it much.

Flowers

We are starting to see flowers around the neighborhood. With the rain and warm weather the plants have really been growing. I enjoy this time of year. Bill likes mowing the grass and keeping up with the yard chores. I would like to have this nice weather all year long. I am sure that would not go over well with those that like winter but I like warm weather.

With gas prices as high as they are it is nice to have a place where we can get a discount. Our local co-op association has self service gas pumps that are available 24/7 and they also give up to 8 cents per gallon off the pump price. The card we use is free and we just pay monthly when we get a statement. That puts the price down about 13 cents below the other stations in town. Gas is high priced but it is a good thing to save where we can.

Wasps

With the beauty of Spring follows the wasp. I so enjoy going out into my yard and checking out my plants, sitting on the swing, watching the dog play and watching nature, but the wasp joins the picture and it can spoil a wonderful warm moment. They are so small and yet they can send fear into me. I don't want to feel like that. I don't want them to ruin my outdoor time.

Baby Kaelyn

Tomorrow our daughter Jenna and our granddaughter Kaelyn Sue are coming to stay with us. It is so much fun to see them. Kaelyn is changing so fast. She now can sit up and play on the floor. Zoe is so much better with her now that she can see that she is just a little person. When she was first born, Zoe couldn't figure her out. It's so cute now when they get together.

Sirius(ly)

We recently bought a Sirius radio. Scott and Jenna had just purchased one and enjoy it very much. Ours came with a car kit and a home kit. Right now we have it in the house connected to the surround sound. It works great. The directions say that the antenna should be outside but ours in the house. We are glad we bought it, Sirius(ly).

Today on the way home I noticed that the sky was filled with dark clouds. According to the weather forecast, we can expect rain tonight. I talked with Jenna and she said they were already receiving rain and strong winds. I am glad that Bill got the mowing done last night. I don't think he would have enjoyed the yard work in the rain.

American Idol Tonight

So what did you think of American Idol tonight? They are down to only four competitors and Jason Castro forgot his lines in his second song. I felt bad for him but he kept his composure and continued the song. I was impressed because if that was me on that stage, I would have run off that stage!

We are going to have a local cabinet maker give us an idea what it would cost to build a new bathroom vanity. We are excited to have him come over and give his input. Sunshine

The weather outside is just gorgeous! It is suppose to get up to 79 degrees and clear and sunny. It's so nice not to have to grab a jacket to go outside. I enjoy going out and checking on how my plants are doing and watching Zoe lay on the deck and sunbath. Warm weather keep on comin.

Emry

We were down to Texas to visit our son Josh, his wife Diana and our grandson Emry a few weeks ago. Emry is about six months old now and is really changing. Just since we were there he has gotten his first two teeth and is jabbering up a blue streak. He is such a sweetie. We sure miss them all.

HGTV

My husband and I are truly enjoying watching the HGTV programs. We find ourselves picking up new ideas for our home and also amazed at the prices people are paying to own their own homes today. Home design today seems to be less is more. Simple is better. I'm starting to like that idea.

House Prices

Bill likes to look at other houses in our town but the prices are terribly high like most surrounding areas. We have a very nice home and I love it. We have fixed it the way I want and it suits us just fine. I am not sure why prices for homes have risen so much. Maybe they will come down in price so people can have a home and love it as much as I do mine.
