Fireplace

We are in the process of having a fireplace installed in our addition. When we built the addition back in 1999 we designed it with the intent of having a fireplace in it some day. It is a gas model that will vent directly out the south wall. Our plumber came by last week and ran the gas line under the addition. Bill was a bit sceptical on how they would run the gas but I knew it would be no problem. The next step is to have a local cabinet maker build a mantel and hearth. We are excited to soon have the finished product.

Golfing

My husband has loved golfing for years. He would golf everyday if he could. I decided I would need to give it a try since it was something that I am sure he will be wanting to do a lot in the retirement years. So, last year I went out a couple of times. I am not very good, but am willing to work at it. Today, I went out with him and my youngest son. I didn't do any better, but I guess that I have only done it a few times. I need to practice.

Tired

I feel very tired tonight. I could tell that I was starting out my day tired. I usually will start to wake up well before my alarm, but not today. I was in a deep sleep when it went off. Not sure why, but I know that my allergies are kicking up and my eyes feel kind of swollen. I'll have to try to get a good nights rest.

PDA Medical Dictionary

Who would have thought. Now technology has reached greater heights, with Physicians going mobile. They now have information at their fingertips with a PDA medical dictionary. No longer will they have to leave the patient room to research information on a particular drug use or effects. This PDA will allow the Doctor to stay right with the patient while retrieving the information they are needing at that moment. The drug guide will be loaded in their PDA or smartphone and is ready to be used. When a physician is prescribing an antibiotic for one illness, he can then check to see how it might affect that patient who is presently on Coumadin. This is a very hand technical tool that is available now. This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.

Air Conditioning

Today we had the plumber here working on running a gas line for our new fireplace we are having installed. When they were just ready to leave, I noticed that the air conditioner didn't sound right. It was humming, but wasn't blowing out air. We quickly stopped them from leaving and they checked it out for us. Sure enough the blower on the furnace was froze up. They had to order a new one and are not sure if it will be here by tomorrow night or not. It could be a very warm couple of days. I quickly closed all of the blinds and turned up all of the ceiling fans. I can always sleep downstairs if need be. We'll have to see. We sure are spoiled aren't we? Bummer....

Numbing

I'm not sure why, but for the past couple of weeks I have been having some problems with my shoulder. When I sit down and start to work on the computer, I get a soreness in my shoulder and it works its way down my arm until I have numbness and tingling in my fingers. I'm really not sure what is going on, but my twin sister says that she has been dealing with this type of thing for the past few years. She says to try ice on it at night. I'll have to do that since it's hurting me right now.

Cooler Weather

The past couple nights it has been a bit cooler. The daytime temps have been in the 80s and 90s. I don't really enjoy the real hot weather so the cooler nights is fine with me. We have been running our air conditioning every day. I want to be comfortable in the house so I don't mind spending a little for AC. I know Bill would like to be out golfing a bit more in this nice weather and I wouldn't mind going too. Maybe one of these days we can find the time.

Memory Cards

Through out the years we have found that we are in need of some type of memory cards. When the kids went off to college, they all used them. they could do their homework on the computer at home and then download it to a memory card and take it to class with them. My husband has done the same type of thing for work. I have used them to store certain data that I wanted to keep and not risk losing. They are a great piece of technology.

Grandchildren

What a great weekend we had! We were blessed to have gotten our family all together for a time. We have been unable to all get together since Christmas. The grand babies are growing so fast. They are such fun to watch. They just looked at each other at first and then began to play. Emry rolls all over and Kaelyn crawls away quickly. It was difficult to try and capture a picture with both of them together looking at the camera with nothing in their mouth. We did get some cute photos though. I hope we can get together again, very soon.

Glasses

It's that time again, when I can't hold the paper out far enough to read it. Or for some, they are better off to take their glasses off and hold the item really close to their face in order to make out what it says. Yes, time for new lenses and frames. 4th of July!

We had such a nice time today! We were invited up to the lake to a family reunion. It is our son-in-laws family. They are such a fun bunch. There was so much food, you couldn't begin to eat everything there. We are not going to starve this weekend, that's for sure. We have several family gatherings planned.

New Vanity

We got a call last night from our cabinet maker that our new vanity is done. We hope to have our new flooring put in the bathroom next week and then get the vanity installed. We bought some modern looking faucets to go with it along with a granite top. We will then put our current vanity downstairs and throw the old one away. The one downstairs is original to the house and had been in the upstairs bathroom. It is time for a change.

Treadmills

My husband is so good to get up early everyday and head out to the local YMCA. He enjoys walking on the treadmills there and also the elliptical machines. I'm glad he wants to stay in shape and live a healthy lifestyle. We should all take care of our bodies. I'm not always the best about that.

I have worked for a dentist for many years. We have since moved into a new facility. We held an open house when the new office was finished. Retirement

Bill talked to a neighbor this morning that recently retired. We knew he was thinking of retirement but found out he actually retired in February. Bill said that the guy golfs and keeps busy in a small wood shop at home. He is one of those guys that does most of his own work. He did mention that he plans on roofing his house sometime this year. Bill offered to help him which I thought was nice gesture.

I know there are people out there that are very particular about the pens they carry. I happen to be one of them. Broken Club

A few weeks ago Bill was golfing with his new set of Taylormade irons and the first time he used his seven iron, the shaft broke. It broke the steel shaft and he said the club head flew quite aways. He found out that the local golf shop would send it in to Taylormade and have them fix it. We got a call yesterday that the club had been repaired and is ready to be picked up. They repaired it for free! You can't beat that. Bill is excited and plans on getting it today.

TV

Boy, there just isn't much to watch on TV these days. I sure wish they would come up with some better televising. In the Fall they always have a group of new shows that begin. With that many of the older ones begin also. We're not really to fond of many of them, even in the Fall. We have 2 or 3 of them we will watch. Only one that we hate to miss and that's American Idol. Come on, be more creative. Give us something worth watching.

Headache

I have so much going on this week. We are in the middle of redoing some things at home and have had a lot of decisions to make. I am working all week and have a lot of plans for the weekend Holiday. With fun comes work and I have been trying to get ready for the weekend while doing so many other things at the same time. I think my head is telling me that it's about time to stop and relax for awhile.

Tall Corn

It is said that the corn should be knee high by the fourth of July. It usually is at least that high. Although we have had big rains and some land is not producing well, the corn is already past knee high. Farmers have had great yields in the past and hopefully they will continue to have.

Whoever made Post Its thought up a great idea. I use them all of the time. We have small ones mainly but also use the larger type. We have them all around the house. They are terrific for jotting little notes. I would like to know how many thousands we have been through.

Many of the surrounding towns have fireworks around the Fourth of July. Sometimes you can see them from ten or more miles away. Some of the best displays are in smaller towns. They really put on a great show. It is a fun family event for many people. I have seen some small fires but that is not common. I am pretty sure we will take in some fireworks this year but I don't know yet where we will go.

Blogs

I have enjoyed writing in my blogs. It is also fun to read what others are writing too. I have some family that write and it is a great way to keep up with what is going on. There are times when videos are added to make it even better. Technology can be a wonderful thing.
